About The TFO Masterworks Series

The TFO Masterworks Series is dedicated to presenting major orchestral works that have shaped the classical repertoire, alongside new music that reflects the voices of today. Designed for discerning listeners and newcomers alike, the series places musical depth, artistic excellence, and meaningful programming at its core.

This inaugural concert brings together three composers whose works speak across time and geography. Rachmaninov and Sibelius, writing at the dawn of the 20th century, capture the emotional intensity and expansive sound worlds that define the Romantic tradition. These are paired with a world premiere of Rimba II by Malaysian composer Ng Chong Lim, offering a contemporary perspective that reflects the region’s evolving artistic voice.

Under the baton of Kevin Field, the Tutan Festival Orchestra presents a programme that balances familiarity with discovery — inviting audiences to experience the power of large-scale orchestral music while witnessing the birth of a new work on the DFP stage.
